DON'T GET MAD, MOVE FORWARD

I know, the phrase is 'Don't Get Mad, Get Even'. But what does 'Get Even' really mean? Does it mean we get revenge, do we physically hurt someone, do we emotionally humiliate someone, or do we take our anger out on just anyone or anyplace we can find? Seems like allot of wasted energy that could be better used in other ways.

In today's society, with the economy the way it is, it would be easy to get angry. There's plenty of reasons; Losses in our 401Ks, the lack of medical insurance, the housing crises, or the one that hit me personally, the loss of a job. What was my first thought, I'm going to GET EVEN for what my employer did to me. I drove 50 miles each way to work for two years to be called into an office and told I was no longer needed. What a slap in the face. I lost my job, my families medical benefits, and the most important thing of all, my self respect. I never did get even with my employer, but then again, I never really tried. What would that accomplish?

So after feeling sorry for myself for a good while, I decided it would be better to MOVE FORWARD, then to waste all that energy on getting even. What turned me around? What helped me see that I had so many things in my life that meant more to me then that job? COMMUNICATING WITH OTHERS!

We're not alone in this world (although sometimes it may seem that way) we all have someone who loves us, people who care for us, family that relies on us, or friends who look forward to simply talking to us. These are strange and sometimes cruel times we live in, but the world's always been that way, and somehow we've all been able to make it through.

Remember, anger is an emotion we all encounter, but don't let it get the best of you. Talk it out with someone, or use this blog and talk it out with me. Until next time.
